How does CacheFly compare to other CDNs?
CacheFly is a Content Delivery Network (CDN) that has been recognized for its performance in real-world comparisons. It has been found to perform the fastest in all four categories: 1st and average request time, globally and in the USA.
When compared to Cloudflare, another popular CDN, there are several differences. CacheFly was launched in 2002 and developed the world's first TCP-anycast based content delivery network. It has a focus on optimizing the CDN for throughput and has steadily built out the network to now have 50+ POPs on 6 continents. CacheFly provides a 100% uptime SLA and takes pride in acting as 'consultants to our customers'.
On the other hand, Cloudflare provides a global CDN with unique performance capabilities and a strong focus on security. The company has a global infrastructure built from the ground up using only next-generation, high-performance equipment—no legacy software or hardware. The result is a CDN that's easy to set up, affordable, and built to continuously adapt and integrate emerging technologies to meet future needs of everyone's Internet properties.
In terms of pricing, CacheFly has a minimum contract term of 1 month with minimum monthly costs of $0 (5 TB/m). Customers pay for client to CDN requests and for origin-to-CDN bytes transferred. The traffic costs for NA/EU, APAC, and LATAM are $0.03 per GB for low volume.
In contrast, Cloudflare does not have a minimum contract term or minimum monthly costs. Customers do not pay for client to CDN requests or for origin-to-CDN bytes transferred. The traffic costs for NA/EU, APAC, and LATAM are also $0 per GB for low volume.
Overall, both CDNs have their strengths and the choice between them would depend on the specific needs and requirements of the user.

How do I create an account with CacheFly?
To create an account with CacheFly, you need to sign into the customer portal. Once logged in, you'll be greeted by a landing page that contains your Account Details. These details include your username, subdomain, FTP password, and FTP server. You'll begin by uploading your static files to ftp.cachefly.com. If you require SFTP, SCP, or RSYNC, please contact support through your customer portal and they can work with you to get that enabled. Start by opening your FTP client on your local machine. In your client enter in your username, host (ftp.cachefly.com), password, port (default port is 21), and then click on connect. Once connected you can begin uploading your objects. We support the creation of subdirectories so that you can build your file hierarchy as you see fit. After you've disconnected from ftp.cachefly.com, your uploaded object will be available at a specific URL. This is the URL that you'll use in your HTML source. Once you're finished uploading your objects, please use your FTP client's disconnect (instead of just closing the client). Not doing so can leave "stale" FTP sessions. Mind special characters and spaces in filenames. Special character will need to be URL encoded when accessing them via a URL. Refrain from linking to a CacheFly served object until it has completely been uploaded. We don't want your end-users getting 1/2 of a file.
